BartPE (PE Builder)

You now can use X-Setup Pro from PE Builder (BartPE) on a bootable CD-ROM. Because X-Setup Pro can not edit the BartPE registry on the CD-ROM you must use the functions for loading an external registry. They allows you to open either a user registry file or a system registry file from the computer facing the problem. Using this load procedure, you can easily access the computer registry and a user registry file from the main system (not the BartPE registry) and change items as it would have started up normally. Simply execute Load computer registry or Load computer registry from the File menu.

What is PE Builder and BartPE?

Bart's PE Builder helps you build a "BartPE" (Bart Preinstalled Environment) bootable Windows CD-Rom or DVD from the original Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 installation/setup CD, very suitable for PC maintenance tasks.

It will give you a complete Win32 environment with network support, a graphical user interface (800x600) and FAT/NTFS/CDFS filesystem support. Very handy for burn-in testing systems with no OS, rescuing files to a network share, virus scan and so on. This will replace any DOS bootdisk in no time!

More information about creating a preinstalled environment (PE) see www.nu2.nu

How to use X-Setup Pro from PE Builder?

Start X-Setup Pro. In the Welcome dialog click the button BartPE Enabler.

PE Builder (BartPE) Base Path

Enter the base path of your BartPE (PE Builder) installation. BartPE will add a link to the directory where X-Setup Pro is currently installed.

You only need to run the BartPE Enabler application once, each time you run PE Builder the current files from your X-Setup Pro folder will be used automatically. This means, each time you create a new bootable ISO image using PE Builder, PE Builder will retrieve all files it needs for X-Setup Pro directly from your X-Setup Pro folder. Any updates or patches that have been applied to X-Setup Pro will be automatically included in the bootable ISO Image because of this linking.

There is no need to manually copy any files when you have performed an update of X-Setup Pro, this will simply happen automatically.
